The Company has a strong intellectual property portfolio and library of pre-clinical drug candidates that target a unique biochemical enzyme called "SHIP" (SH2-containing inositol phosphatase) which regulates the PI3 kinase (PI3K) pathway. We are currently seeking a Research Associate in Biology (Maternity Leave Replacement) with expertise in cell biology, molecular biology or biochemistry to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for culturing primary mammalian cells and performing cell-based and biochemical assays.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
Design and execute scientific experiments with minimal supervision
Design and implement protocols for development of in vitro assays to support drug screening projects
Perform in vitro biological assays as requested, including metabolic assays, cellular viability assays and ELISA’s
Responsible for general lab duties including maintenance of cells in culture, preparation of reagents, ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies for tissue culture and screening lab
Maintain R&D laboratory notebook according to established guidelines
Data reduction and presentation
To be successful in this role, you will have the following qualifications and experience:
B.Sc. with 5-10 years of experience or M.Sc. with 3 – 5 years experience in a biology related field
Knowledge and experience with cell-based and biochemical assays
Demonstrated expertise in mammalian cell culture techniques
Experience with FACS an asset
Effective communication skills, strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment is essential
