Physics Assistant

Working with designated Medical Physicists in a team environment, you will assist with physics, technical and computer services in support of the planning and treatment of radiation therapy. Demonstrating a strong aptitude for organizing and prioritizing work, you will maintain an inventory of radiation physics equipment and ensures its maintenance. As well, you will assist in performing measurements on radiation therapy equipment to establish and maintain stability of the radiation output and geometrical parameters of radiation therapy machines. The Medical Physicist will look to you to tabulate and maintain radiation physics data. Communicating with other team members, you will ensure continuity of shared responsibilities and maintain a safe environment for patients, families and staff. Other duties will include helping with orientations and the design of quality assurance procedures.

You have a bachelor’s degree in Physics or Engineering Physics, and one year of related experience in radiation therapy physics. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience acceptable to BCCA will be considered. As the technical expert, you know how to operate related equipment and departmental software. You are also an effective communicator with strong verbal and writing skills. Passionate about learning, you demonstrate the ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge pertaining to this position by attending in-service lectures and developing a learning plan.
