Job Description:
The R&D Engineer, Coating Design will focus on product and process development associated with drug/device combination medical products. We are seeking candidates with direct experience with drug-eluting medical device product development. The successful candidate will have great attention for detail, enjoy working in a laboratory environment, and will have excellent report writing skills. He/she must be capable of working within a team environment, be highly goal and task-oriented, and able to work with minimal daily supervision.

Responsibilities:
Innovate, design, develop, evaluate, and improve processes, procedures, tooling, and/ or equipment for the application of drug / polymer combinations to medical devices
Engineer processes to increase manufacturing efficiencies and yields
Work closely with R&D Formulations, Analytical Chemistry, and Engineering to execute the functional deliverables associated with New Product Development, Project Management, and Quality Systems
Analyze space requirements, workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
Prepare and present technical data and recommendations at technical reviews
Write validation protocols and reports applicable to new processes
Conduct IQ/OQ/PQ on equipment and processes in support of product development efforts
Confer with vendors to determine specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate these according to specifications and quality standards
Apply statistical methods to estimate manufacturing requirements and potential
Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input to the engineering print package
Train and/or provide work direction to technicians and may train manufacturing personnel when required as part of a validation
Work in compliance with GMP requirements
Provide supporting documentation for DHF requirements
Support the regulatory submission process in compliance with all ISO, EN, MDD and FDA regulations and requirements

Requirements:
Minimum 4-year Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering degree
Minimum 4 years of related work experience in medical device product development and/or manufacturing.
Drug eluting medical device product development and/or manufacturing experience preferred.
Demonstrated experience with medical device related IQ/OQ/PQ
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to frame and solve complex engineering problems
Identify and lead appropriate resources to solve problems in acceptable time period Candidates with Six Sigma, Design of Experiments, and supervisor experience will be given additional consideration.
