Bioinformatician/Systems Administrator in Proteomics - The BC Proteomics Network (BCPN)

The BC Proteomics Network (BCPN) is seeking an individual to implement, maintain and manage bioinformatics and systems administration resources for the Network. The position will be ideal for an individual seeking to progressively develop a career in bioinformatics for proteomics.
LOCATION: University of British Columbia and BC Cancer Research Centre, Vancouver, BC

Depending on the qualifications and training of the successful applicant, the duties will include but are not limited to the following:operate, maintain and manage access to proteomics software and databases for the BCPN, including Mascot, X!Tandem, Protein Pilot, PEAKS develop methodologies to analyze large Mass Spectrometry datasets train users and provide support for proteomics software install new commercial and public domain software develop additional community-use software maintain the BCPN website identify new bioinformatic technologies useful for the BCPN represent BCPN bioinformatic capabilities outside the Network occasional travel to member labs outside of the Vancouver area

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should possess a degree qualification in the computational or biological sciences. An advanced degree and a familiarity with proteomics software is preferred.
DURATION AND SALARY: The position is available for a 1 year term with the anticipation of renewal contingent on continued BCPN funding. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Opportunities exist for combining this position with graduate or post-doctoral studies in local laboratories.
