UBC Job: Research Associate, Pharmaceutical Sciences

Research Associate: Division of Pharmaceutics & Biopharmaceutics
A full-time Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Kishor Wasan, Professor of Pharmaceutics & Biopharmaceutics. The individual will be involved in numerous projects related to investigation of the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles of lipophilic compounds following oral or systemic administration. The projects will be focused on the mechanisms of intestinal absorption, as well as on the post-absorptive disposition and effect of drugs in normal and/or disease states. The candidate must be familiar with animal handling including drug administration by various routes (injections and oral gavage techniques), aseptic experimental microsurgery in rodents (including jugular and femoral veins cannulation, bile duct cannulation, duodenal and gastric cannulations, mesenteric/thoracic lymph duct cannulations), in-silico pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic modeling (knowledge of WinNonlin or/and ADAPT software is required), chromatographic techniques and principles of method development (HPLC-UV, LC-MS). Solid knowledge in the fields of pharmacokinetics, pharmaceutics, drug delivery and analytical chemistry is required.
The successful candidate will preferably possess a professional degree in Pharmacy, should hold a PhD in pharmaceutics or a related field with relevant experience and must have post-doctoral experience in the field. He or she should have an interest in developing novel methods and in training students
The salary is negotiable, commensurate with experience and subject to final budgetary approval.
